We would love to support you having a Collie baby!

Collie River Valley Medical Centre is pleased to announce an extension of our maternity service to our community. We now have four doctors providing obstetric services for low risk patients within Collie.

Dr Peter Wutchak has been practicing obstetrics in the area for over 16 years. He is anaesthetically trained which allows epidural based pain relief options.

Dr Jan Van Vollenstee has obstetric experience in both South Africa and Australia. As a GP surgeon, he is able to perform elective and emergency caesarean sections.

We now have two female GPs who have procedural skills in obstetrics that have joined our practice.

Dr Amanda Sabel is an English trained doctor who brings a wealth of obstetric experience from both England and Africa. She is quickly becoming an integral part of our team.

Dr Raquel Diego is a GP Registrar who is very experienced with obstetric care both in The Philippines and Australia. She has completed extensive time in maternity hospitals in Perth as well as offering GP obstetrics in Narrogin last year. Dr Diego is able to perform caesarean sections.

Also, Dr Adrian Lee is able to provide anaesthetic coverage that will allow epidurals for labour and caesarean sections.

This is the strongest team we have had in Collie for over a decade. When many towns are struggling to keep their maternity units open, we are working hard with the Collie hospital to build our maternity unit. For this to be successful, we need the support of the community.

Holiday Trading Hours

From everyone at Collie River Valley Medical Centre we wish you a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!

We will be closed from 2pm on Christmas Eve (Thurs 24th of December) and reopen on Tuesday the 29th of December.
We will also be closed on New Year’s Day (Friday).
In case of an emergency, patients should go straight to the Collie Hospital or phone 000. Patients will be assessed by the emergency nurse and our on-call doctor is called if it is deemed urgent. Please note, the emergency department is not a substitute for the GP services within CRVMC normal business hours.

Collie Show 2015

Free Health Assessment and Skin Checks were once again offered by CRVMC at the Collie Show.  Thank you to Jenny, Janet, Angela, Chantelle, Ashleigh, Aimee and Sharon for giving up their time on the day.  Dr Van Vollenstee and Dr Wutchak would like to remind people that if there is a change in colour, shape or size of any spot, mole or freckle, please book an appointment for a skin check on 9734 4111.  All skin cancer checks are charged as a standard consultation.

2015 RACGP National General Practice of the Year Award

CRVMC is pleased to announce that we were the recipient of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) National and Western Australian General Practice of the Year Award 2015.  Dr Frank Jones (President of the RACGP) is pictured here with Dr Jan Van Vollenstee and Dr Peter Wutchak receiving the award last Sunday in Melbourne at the Award ceremony.

New Doctors!

CRVMC is pleased to announce that we have several new doctors.  Dr Amanda Sabel and Dr Mo Ashfaq join our team from England.  Dr Sabel is an experienced GP with a special interest in obstetrics while Dr Ashfaq has also trained in general practice with extensive experience with emergency care.  Dr Shankar Paramaswaran is our new GP Registrar for the next 12 months.  We also welcome back Dr Paul Griffiths who graduated from our local high school, graduated from UWA, completed training in procedural anaesthetics and currently completing general practice training.  We welcome all our new doctors to Collie and hope that their stay is a long one!
