As part of our commitment to the ongoing management of diabetes, once a month (Wednesday) a diabetic educator is available to discuss diabetic management with our patients. This service is provided by a trained diabetic educator through the GP down south, Division of General Practice programme and is a free service to all diabetic patients. In general, diabetic patients are directed to make an appointment by their doctor. However, you are always welcome to make an appointment through our reception staff to improve your knowledge about diabetes.
Diabetes is a chronic disease that builds and develops slowly but can lead to very significant complications such as blindness and kidney failure. Early effective management has been proven to reduce complication rates. Understanding the disease and how best to monitor and treat it is the way to gain control over this common and potentially devastating condition. Diabetic education is seen as an important component of the diabetic management process and regular contact with a trained diabetic educator is strongly recommended.
