How to Get a Cervical Screening Test
Preventative cervical screening is a high priority at CRVMC. In Australia, every woman aged between 25 to 75 years who has had intercourse should have a cervical screening every 5 years. First routine screening should commence at age 25, or younger if sexual activity occurred prior to receiving the HPV vaccine. If you are due for a cervical screening test, you have the option of either:
Collect your own sample from your vagina using a swab at our practice (self-collection).
Have one of our doctors or nurses collect a sample from your cervix using a speculum.
To find out which option is best for you, please call our reception team on 9734 4111 and ask to speak to one of our friendly nurses. Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable and curable of all cancers. Please book an appointment today if you are due or overdue for a cervical screening test.
